I seriously don't know what to title the posts!
I hate that my babies are growing up so fast.
Friday was Valentine's Day. The kids spent the day baking cupcakes and decorating them with D. I loved coming home to that - but I also wish that it was me doing that with them on Valentine's Day instead of stuck behind a desk doing things to make others rich.
Unfortunately, my time with the cupcakes was short - I had to grab Sof and take her to the pedi. The day before, D and GG had seen some blood when she had a poop. They were both alarmed by it and of course...made me alarmed. Dr K couldn't see anything and told us it was a good thing that it was bright red, but to keep an eye on it and maybe take a picture next time and keep her up to date on things. She thought it could be from having some constipation and straining. I'm happy to report that she had three poops over the weekend and NO blood! So we'll see. Maybe it was a fluke.
While in the waiting room, (it was Sof, me and my dad), I had brought along the books she got for valentine's day. She was starting to color her Sofia the First book and I see that it's a picture from the episode called "Shy Princess". I couldn't remember the name of the shy princess so I just ask Sofi. She answers - Vivian! We haven't seen this episode in a while, but the kid remembered! Then yesterday, since H was going to be late, I met up with my parents at the mall. On the way home it was just me and the kids. Sofi - of course - didn't fall asleep. So at one point, as I'm trying to change the CD of the book I'm listening to, and realize that I can't find it, she asks for Sofia. I put it on. Then...she asks me to turn it up. Really????
So at the next red light I try to look for the CD again so I can listen to my story. She warns me that the light is green. :::sigh::: when did she get so big? I know we talk about red and green and that green means go. But seriously!!! My smart little cookie!!
Then we have Miss Alex who tells me to be careful in the car. Yeah - backseat drivers???
And poor P. He's teething again (still?) and boy does he get diarrhea when he's teething! Poor baby has such a red and sore bum. He was hysterical at the mall, because of a poopy diaper and being sleepy.
We also slept over at my MIL's this weekend with all the kids. We had a birthday party on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday, so at the last minute we decided to sleep over. E was there too. It was nice to have the kids together. But I thought having her sleep with P would be best, since he doesn't wake up at night....WRONG! Poor baby was up for about two hours. And he didn't want me. I think H finally got him to calm down by walking him around.
When we were ready for bed, Sofi grabs her baby doll and purse and announces "Sofi's home" - as in let's get moving and go home. Ummm sorry kid, we're sleeping here. Nope - that wasn't what she wanted. She was really good about it, but it also made her ask to go home when we were at the mall. Poor kid - how is she going to last two nights in San Diego???
Oh - and the party we went to - the grandma has twin girls (T&T). We were talking about things and she told me to always write everything down. Her girls always ask her who did what first and she can't remember (the twins have a sister about 3 years older - so the woman was busy!) So I'm going to try and make an effort to write more. It may be random like today, but at least it written down. Use your own intelligence and put it in order!
This came up because Alex had a bruise on the left upper arm. They asked what happened, and I said that Sof bit her a few days ago. Yes, Sofi is doing better at not biting, but she's two. She still does it once in a while when she's frustrated, tired and mad. Then it was discussions about what they wear. Well, on Saturday, Sofi pointed at a dress in the closet that they haven't worn (or at least in a long time) and I let her wear it. Then I just grabbed the "second one" that we had of it and put it on Alex. She didn't protest. But the shoes and accessories - Sofi wanted her pink Uggs with the bows in the back. Two bows in her hair and a headband. Then pink sunglasses. Yeah - little diva. Alex wore her pink Nike's when I gave them to her - no questions from her on that day.
But Sunday, after she woke from her nap at Grandma's (still don't know how Alina did that!). she refused the dress I had for her, then decided that she wanted to wear it OVER a long sleeve dress she was already wearing. And she slept in all of that.
Then in the middle of the mall, her shirt gets a little wet, and she makes me put on Patrick's PJ shirt. pot belly showing and all!! AND - at home, half asleep, she wants to wear underwear. I make her wear it over her PJ pants and diaper!!!!!
They are very different, yet I don't know how to explain it.
Sofi can stare you down. And she will at an initial meeting. Alex is shy at first and hides behind my leg, but once you give her a hello and a friendly pinch - she melts and loves the attention. Sofi is very protective and weary about the people around her - yet she is more assertive. They each waver as to who is easier to get along with - they are both stubborn in different ways. But Sofi is the mamma bear. A woman at the park even commented when she stepped in to help P. There is not way to mistake the fact that you better not cross her - hell hath no fury!!
I love my babies so so much. Miss them like crazy!!!!

January
Goodness, why are they growing so fast!!
Alex has taken with the English language In these few short months, she's really absorbing it. Now she goes around saying ..."I want tatik" or "I want..." REALLY!!!!
Patrick's language skills are improving too. He's very good at directing you to what he wants. The other night we were having tacos and we used all the "real" cereal bowls for the toppings. Patrick sees them and starts trying to say "cereal" (basically "see"). Yup - since daddy has cereal in those bowls every morning with him, he wanted cereal. He was pacified with some dry cheerios. But seriously - smart little cookie!
He also says "mee" for mickey/minnie. He'll grab the remote and look at the TV so you put it on for him. The other day Diana swore he was saying "teev" and staring at the TV.
Sofi is also starting to talk more. She's harder to understand, but I think i'm getting her language! She has all the words down, it's more about putting them together and hoping that we understand!
I thought we were over this whole flu/cold episode - but it looks like we're not. I have a cough that will not go away. It just started again last week. And poor Sofi didn't have a good night. Poor thing has been a little off the last day or two - not eating much at all. Yesterday she was feverish. Then in the middle of the night she woke up crying to pee and wasn't doing too well. She threw up. All we had managed to get her to eat were three tiny feta sandwiches and milk. It all came up. She gets so upset when she's sick that it breaks my heart. Thankfully that was the only episode so far.

January
Well apparently after my last post...we all got sick. I mean the one month flu. Yes - one month/30+ days of sickness in the house. But I think we're over it.
It all started after Patrick's party (12/8). Sofi got hit first, but I thought it was a little cold for just a few days. We went to a Christmas party on the 15th with slight runny noses, but didn't think much of it. A day or two after that, things got a bit worse. Sofi had a bad cough. Patrick wasn't doing too well. Everyone was mostly clingy and had a runny nose. Then the coughs cam in. Sofi ended up with a round of steroids to help her, and she was doing much better after that. Then Alex and Patrick got worse. Since it was the flu, we just had to ride it out. But we did manage to go through at least 2 bottles of Tylenol for the kids!
Did I also mention that all the adults also got sick??? Fun times. My mom, Diana and I were the worst. Hamik got it as a two day stint (which is why we thought the kids were getting over so soon after they got it). We've had what feel like relapses and just purely awful days. But I think we're all done now.
Not too many exciting things - even though it was the holiday's. We went up to GTown on the 23rd and spent the day with SIL and everyone. We decided to spend the night at MIL's house that night. It didn't go well - for many reasons. SIL had invited other family over, so we were waiting for them to come and it was already past 8pm. Patrick usually goes to bed at 7, but we tried to put him down in Emily's crib, and he didn't want any of it. The girls were tired too. So around 8:30 my mom and I packed up the kids and took them to MIL's to sleep, and I was going to come back to see the cousins. Didn't happen. Mom got the girls and they watched TV until they passed out, but it wasn't easy. They weren't happy campers. Patrick was a nightmare in his own right. I finally had to drive him around town to fully fall asleep in the car. I also had to put him in the girls car seat so I wouldn't have to crawl in and out of the car and wake him up. But even though that worked for a while, he was up again. To say it was a long night, was an understatement. And I want to take an actual trip and stay at a hotel with all of them....I may have officially lost my mind!! LOL!
The next day we went to one of my aunt's houses and hung out there for the afternoon. Then headed to my uncle's house at night.
Poor MIL's house looked like a bomb had exploded in there. She was cleaning up after us for over a week!! (It was spotless when we walked in on Monday night.)
Christmas day was fun, we were at home and R&L and the boys came over. The kids had fun playing and we tried to take it easy and just go with the flow. (apparently every pizza place in town was closed) Eh - we still had a great time.
For New Year's, we stayed at home. Two of my aunt's and their family came over. We celebrated with New York, and were done! They left early to get home before the crazy people came out. And we were so tired from work and being sick that we passed out.
We haven't done much since. Just trying to stay home and making sure everyone sleeps and gets better. I think we're there now.
The kids are doing awesome! Sofi and Alex are talking so much. Alex is my little English speaker. She'll mix the two languages: Kati-want! They are also doing much better with manners and helping to clean up. Sofi is a total mamma bear! She'll clean up after everyone. Give her a wet-wipe and she'll wipe everything down!
Patrick is just adorable and frustrating!! If you help him, he doesn't want it. Meaning, you try to change his diaper, and he wants nothing to do with that. You try to change him because he's wet - nope!! As H says - he's one of the few boys that don't love their mamma!! Well he's wrong. He still loves mamma snuggles at night! And I will soak it up!
I think he's finally getting another tooth #8!! But man do I love that smile and those teeth and that hair!! We have pictures on the 25th and I think I need to trim his hair. It's just a little unruly.

Catching up
Well, where to begin.
The month of October - that brought us our tiny little walker!! Yes, the little man started to take his first steps around the 11th of October and just progressed from there. It only took him about a week or two to really get the hang of it. So at 10 1/2 months - he was a walker!
As he took his first steps, my dad had to leave the country again. Ugh. My aunt passed away so he needed to go and take care of some business. But it's taking SO LONG for him to come back! He's missing so much of the kids that it breaks my heart. I had such high hopes that he would be back for Patrick's first birthday, but let's just hope he's home by mid January. It's not the same without him here.
All three kids are just growing so fast! It's amazing to watch. Sofi is a total DIVA! She can't get enough tutu's, necklaces, headbands, bracelettes! It's adorable! I bought them four dress-up tutu's and Alex will have nothing to do with them! Sofi gets to have them all! Sofi is also my little protector. OMG does she worship and love Patrick! If ANYONE - including Alex, does anything bad to Patrick - she's on your tail. She just attacks you and gives you a big stink-eye! She also puts up with so much that Patrick does. He has a very heavy hand and loves to just slap people! And she totally tolerates it. Alex - not so much! She loves to hug him and care for him, but she just has a different relationship with him right now.
With my dad being gone, it's pushed me into hiring a nanny to help out my mom. Diana. She brings the balance we need. Patrick ADORES her and wants to go home with her every single day! They're amazing together. The girls are warming up to her. They're older, so it's taking a bit of time. Diana is amazing in the control she has over situations - she doesn't take crap from anyone, but in a loving way! AND the girls just need to get used to that. They are learning so much from her. Miss Alex is going to be speaking fluent English in the next few days! They're all just so adorable!
Well the vocabulary on these two girls is AMAZING! Alex is a totally chatter box and "dictator"! Hilarious!! She scrunches up her nose and has this disgusted look on her face - so funny! She speaks very clearly (in my opinion) and is easier to understand. Sofi is totally blossoming with her vocabulary. She's getting easier to understand and she's able to sing along with the ABC song and so many others. Is so great to see all of this.
They're very much into Sofia the First, Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Super Why, Curious George and Raggs. They still watch Taline and I need to get Arevik back in rotation. We need to keep the Armenian stuff in there!!
We go to My Gym every week and they have grown so much! The first day we went in there, they would not be put down, we held them the whole time. This last week, they even participated in a group train ride! They also go to the stations to participate in the activities! They're making friends and it's just amazing to see. Each of the teachers there have been commenting on how much they've changed. It melts my heart that they've matured and grown so much.
OK - better get back to work.
OH! And we had Patrick's Birthday party and adamahadik. He picked the calculator! Maybe another Finance person in the family.

more updates
ok - this is going to be quick:
9/9/2013 - P started to get his upper two front teeth!
9/7/2013 - FINALLY!! Since Sof was so passed out from Disneyland, I put her in her bed - upstairs - and she stayed there and didn't wake up until morning! This has been the start to her sleeping in her bed!! We're a week and a half into it, and she's doing great! Still requires hand holding to fall asleep, but she passes out quickly!
9/16/2013 - Dare I say it - Sofi and Patrick are sleeping through the night! Alex still gets up but we're working on it. Not sure if it's her peeing that wakes her up. Apparently on Saturday night when we were at a wedding, she woke up at 4am and walked to our room and told my mom she had to pee - proceeded to pee and poop in the potty and then head back to bed!
9/7/2013 - DISNEYLAND!! Second trip for the girls. Super fun day but HOT!! P didn't come with us - thankfully! The girls lasted until 7pm. Alex took a little nap in my lap, but Sofi wated until we were sitting to eat at about 7 to pass out. Bobbing head and all!
8/31 - Birthday party at Santa Ana Zoo - super fun to see animals!
9/1/2013 - Pool Party! Terez's son's birthday. They all had so much fun in the water!
9/15/2013 - Saw Patrick just stand up - holding nothing - just in the middle of the family room! Gosh - slow down buddy!!
OK - don't want to miss these dates!

All about Alex...
For some reason, I just have a few bits to update about Alex!
8/18/2013 - she got her first hair cut! Not a major one, but our dear neighbor trimmed off just enough to get her out of that mullett look. She even loves her hair, though the chunk that she usually twirls around her finger is much shorter.
Since her birthday party, she's been sleeping with her Sofia the First book. Again, thank you to the neighbor and her DIL. They got it for the girls. Grandpa had to go out and buy a second one since they would fight over it so much!
She's also gone through a phase of waiting to poop after she's been in bed for a good half hour - so we end up in the bathroom for what we've dubbed "a marathon session". You would think she's just procrastinating about sleeping - nope - she seriously goes for quite a while. But we are required to read Sofia the First through it all. And since potty training is going to well, I can't have her just go in the diaper - so we have our nightly chats. And boy is her vocabulary AMAZING!!!! She puts together 6 word sentences - like complex ones!
Then we had a minor incident yesterday - she fell in said neighbor's pool. She was trying to sit right beside me, but didn't make it. I was holding Patrick and DH had Sofi. Thankfully the neighbor hopped in and got her before she could float to the top. She wasn't phased by it - not a single swallow of water, gasp for air, a need for a hug - nothing! I love that we were all pretty calm considering. It was a fun day there and thankfully it ended on a fun note of eating spaghetti! The DIL was feeding her son, and apparently my little vultures went in to help themselves. At least they were full! And it got the little boy eating too - so that made all us momma's happy!
And finally...as of 8/24/2013 - the girls are officially forward facing. I was VERY reluctant about this, but with all the crying Sofi has been doing latley, I had to try. And she was totally calm the whole ride to my aunt's house. Not a peep! I don't know if she was getting car-sick or what, but I don't want outings to be a miserable experience. I wish I didn't have to change it yet, but we made it 25 months! So that's not too bad in my book.

Teeth, parties and more!
8/9/13 - He officially has two itty bitty teeth!! We finally felt then on Friday, and it's just over a week later and you can really see them now!! Poor little man must be quite the trooper, because I've sworn he's about to get his teeth for about 5 months now! FINALLY!!
We also took that lovely weekend to go to Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. Well, we were doing ok and actually made it on time. We were waiting in the lobby to be called in ... when it happened...Goofy sneezed. Yes, Goofy was out there taking pictures with everyone and he was playing around with a kid and made a big sneeze. You guessed it - Miss Sofia was in hysterics and all I could do was hug her and laugh. Yes...I'm that mom. He caught her totally off guard and she literally jumped clear out of her skin - I actually saw this part - so I knew it would be bad. One of the Disney employees even came over to see what was up. Yes, she laughed with me. But we made it to go in, but they were totally weary of all the characters. They didn't really want to touch them or have them too close. Even Miss Alex was a little hesitant. But thankfully they weren't scared for life. Sofi would just keep saying that Goofy sneezed and she cried. But she's still playing with her toy Goofy, so they're on good terms again.
Well, the next day we were to go to the Beach with my family, but Alex and I woke up with colds. Thankfully we stayed home, got some nice long naps in and we did go to the park for some fresh air. We also got our first taste of the ice cream truck! But daddy did the picking, and made some yummy choices. It even enticed one little girl to come to our table and fully pull open our little cooler bag and want one. I had to send her back to ask her mom - didn't want to take chances that she had an allergy or mom just didn't want a stranger giving her kid food.
The next weekend - 8/17 and 8/18 we also full of firsts! Daddy took us to our first Angels game as a family! As I suspected, we didn't last too long in our seats. Sofi freaked out. Not sure if it was because of the height at first, but it didn't help when everyone cheered and the little fireworks went off because of a home run. Ooops! So she and I spent some time out by the food and drinks. Poor DH had the baby and Alex! But they did great! Thankfully they sat quietly and watched for a bit. Being in a new place was exciting. But eventually they came out too and we decided to walk around the levels a bit. We did manage to stay until somewhere in the 6th inning - and heard the 7th inning stretch while getting into jammies to go home. Not too bad, but I need to figure out if Sof is afraid of heights or may have super sensitive ears. Ugh. Maybe we should have taken the girls when they were tiny so they would get used to it. There was a little boy, maybe a little over 1 who was doing so well, sitting all quietly and watching the game. Hopefully Patrick will get some more games under his belt and he'll do better. Maybe we need to encourage some daddy and son baseball games!
On Sunday we ventured over to Ir.v.ine to go to a picnic sponsored by an Armenian Church's Saturday School. There was an old family friend that would be there and since they live so close to us, I really wanted to make it out there to see her - I'm really glad I did. It was fun, it felt like a huge family picnic more so, than an organized school picnic, so it was nice. Everyone took us under their wings and made us feel very comfortable. The girls surprisingly opened up fast and were little hams!
Once we got back home and were unloading the car, our neighbors came out to say hi. Janice had been saying that she would give Alex a little hair cut one of these days since I was so terrified to have anyone touch her hair! Alex freaked out a bit, and squirmed ALOT! But Janice did an amazing job! We even got her to put her feet in the pool and did part of the cut there! LOL! We need to open a hair salon that lets you wade in a pool! But she looked ADORABLE!!! She took off enough to get her hair to look "normal". I feel bad saying that about my own kid, but her hair really was unruly.
